A little History on the music
Walt started out by not making the high school chorus. After High school, he bought a cheap guitar and taught himself to play. A year later, in 1975, he started playing in bars with the group "Sandy Haze". After a year, he decided to play small bars as a single on his own. In 1978, a group playing the Holiday Inn curcuit approched Walt. He quit his day job for fame and fortune with "Walt Churchey and the New Image". In 1980, back at his old job, Walt started writing and released his first recording on a 45rpm "Kathy Ann". Meanwhile, he kept playing the bars as a single in Western Pa. After a few years, he formed the group "Mainstreet" (still together with the original members just have a few years between gigs now). Walt continued to write and in 1997 recorded "By the Fire" on cassette. He quit his day job again, this time for fame and fortune in Nashville. Lately, Walt has been writing /recording and playing in local bars. Also, Walt can be seen with Guitar's Around (A unique format of local solo act's). April 2004 is the release date for "Somewhere" his first release on CD.
